Borrowdale Fairy Pools

People have started referring to this spot as the Borrowdale Fairy pools. I think it’s to liken it to the very well known Skye version. Having visited both they’re not dissimilar, but the Borrowdale version is definitely a lot smaller...and warmer!

Slightly hidden away you have to actually come off the path to see it and realise it’s there. Access is limited and involves a little scrambling but in nice weather its easily accessible, so it can get busy because this is a great little spot. Very picturesque, with pools of all sizes and depths so it's actually really good for families, there's even a rope swing over one part of the gorge where the pools are particularly deep, if you're feeling adventurous. There are plenty of places for for those who want to try their hand at rock jumping, and even a few spots for sliding down natural waterslides...also known as waterfalls.

If you drive down into Borrowdale and park near Stonethwaite then simply follow the path down the Valley. You will pass through Stonethwaite Campsite and then follow the river until you see a Gorge – and you’re basically there – find your spot and enjoy !!!!
