Shill’s of Cockermouth is all about good food and great wine. The menu showcases their love for fine food no matter the time of day. They also have on events fairly regularly. Cath Marcangelo (Choir leader of Committed to Rock) often performs there to sell out audiences. Tickets are required to such events, but they are publicised, so it's worth checking them on facebook as well as the website.

The Honest Lawyer
Voted the best restaurant in Cockermouth, this quirky little restaurant occupies a unique position in a grade 2 listed building that was previously the towns old courthouse cells, right on the banks of the River Cocker in heart of town. The Honest Lawyer restaurant features Italian and French influenced English cuisine. Open Tuesday to Saturdays: 5.30pm to 10pm. Food is cooked fresh on the premises using locally sourced produce. Served with wines, beers, spirits and liquors. All the ingredients are sourced locally and the food is very tasty. Well worth a visit if you’re in Cockermouth and fancy a nice restaurant experience.

ASPAVA Restaurant
Looking for something a little different, well, Turkish mezze and mains could be just the thing for you then. ASPAVA is open every day from noon to 110pm (except Tuesday), and is set in its own courtyard just off main street. They promise an authentic Turkish experience, from the food to the decor, to the staff...we haven't had chance to make it there just yet, so let us know what you think if you get there before us.

The Trout
This is a Hotel, Restaurant and Bar which offers a lot of choice for dining. You can pop here for a light lunch, afternoon tea, or a great evening meal with lots of choice. Evening meals can be taken in the Terrace Bistro or restaurant. Very tasty and award winning, too. Another must visit place if you’re after a special meal out one night. This is one of mum’s new favourite places.
The Brewer's Fayre
Just outside the town centre, at the Oakhurst roundaboat, The Brewer's Fayre is both a budget and family freindly option. Their carvery being exceptional value at only £10.49 and including unlimited roasties, yorkshire puds, veggies and gravy. Now that's gonna be tough to beat.
