Living in the lake district means that we get to explore and find all sorts of exciting places, which we can then share with you our guests.
This week we decided to visit Ullswater for a day out of canoeing, swimming, jumping off rocks, and then lunch out all in all a little bit of everything in one day.
We set off to Glenriding, which is just a 30 minute drive from Kestrel Lodge. Most places I’ve explored are just a 30 minute drive away, I don't like to venture too far with all this loveliness on our doorstep, there's little need to really. Once there we hired a Canadian canoe that allowed us to take the Dogs with us and set off to the far side of the lake to a small bay, where we moored up and got our wetsuits on before we took on the challenge of the “Devils Chimney”.
The Canoe trip took maybe 30 minutes of leisurely paddling, and then we enjoyed the rest of the morning jumping into the cool Ullswater lake and swimming with the dogs.
Another gentle paddle back to the hire place, a quick change, we decided a spot of lunch was in order. The Orangary at Inn on the Lake was our choice for a lovely bite to eat. Its dog friendly and a lovey spot on the lake side to enjoy lunch. I highly recommend the Stinky Pig. If you want to know what that is...you'll just have to go and pay a visit.
