Last weekend saw the Mountain Festival arrive in Keswick and the Kestrel Lodge gang couldn't wait to get stuck in!
I’ve been to the music events before but this year I also took part in one of the sporting events, once around the island, a 1.5km swim. In past years I’ve taken part in the Great North Swim and have found parking to be a huge issue, along with changing facilities and the whole venue situation, so I thought I'd give the Mountain Festival a try.
Comfy view of the stage, lounging on my inflatable sofa!
Not a bad view for a concert, is it? Add in some very cool food vendors--including woodfired pizzas and Lebanses street food--a few drinks, and one very cool evening was the result on Saturday night. (The headliner this year was Mel C, last year it was KT Tunstall.)
Sunday afternoon brought with it the swimming events. Now, despite very low water levels in Derwent Water, it was a great swim. In fact, I found the thing to be fantastic; lots of spectator space, good stalls, and great music.
They have a fantastic programme of events so I'd definatly recommend for next year whether you are a swimmer, runner, cyclist, triathalete, or walker there is something for you. As an added bonus you get a concert ticket included FREE as part of your entry pack. It really should be a date for your diary.
Tickets are available for those who don't want to take part in the sporting activities too. But you won't get the cool T-shirt the activity junkies get!
